Inokori Sensei

"Inokori Sensei" is the ninth song in Confession Executive Committee, both in the Love Series and for CEC as a whole. This installment is another side story, this time featuring the complicated relationship between Haruki Serizawa and his Japanese teacher Saku Akechi. The song is primarily sung from Haruki's perspective, despite being Akechi's character song.

A version using Akechi's seiyuu Hikaru Midorikawa was found on the first compilation album Boku Ja Dame Desu Ka? ~Kokuhaku Jikkou Iinkai Character Song Collection~. Later still it received an official CHiCO with HoneyWorks cover for their second album Watashi no Someru i no Uta.

Interestingly, despite referencing the Haruki/Saku/Chiaki conflict that would later become important in the third volume of the Kokuhaku Yokou Renshuu light novel series, the song and PV do not spoil or directly reference any of the contents.

The events are retold in the fifth light novel Kokuhaku Yokou Renshuu: Koi-Iro ni Sake.

Synopsis

For not raising his hand when asked, Haruki is called out by Akechi to stay behind after class. When they're alone, Haruki calls his teacher out for supposedly patronizing him when he's supposedly matured, and asks him why they keep up a barrier as teacher and student when they were friends before. Akechi regularly deflects the question, and questions why Haruki always puts up a tough front whenever they get in close proximity. This happens multiple times, though Haruki never relents and never raises his hand, tired of the gap between them.

Watching Haruki hang out with his friends, Saku gets flashbacks to his own time in high school when he hung out with Haruki's brother, Chiaki. He has visions of a beach day, water rushing up, Haruki as a child crying by a bedside, and Akechi himself looking distraught; all references to Chiaki's death, all but stating that they don't talk much anymore because of guilt that welled up from the incident.

When roll call happens again and Akechi asks if everyone likes their teacher and class, he finally realizes that he's the only one not satisfied. It cuts back to the argument in detention with Haruki finally breaking through to Akechi, offering to start on a fresh step so they can go back to their old relationship.

Trivia

• This song acts as one of the Gynoid co. vocal synthesizer flower's official demos during her Vocaloid V3 era. Her original "Pistil" character design is used as a placeholder for students throughout the song's PV.
• "Inokori Sensei" serves as Akechi's only solo image song in the music series. He would later receive shared focus with Chiaki Serizawa in "Love-Hate Majority".
• HoneyWorks recurring character Johnny, originating from HoneyWorks' "Yoshida, Ie de Surutte yo" and later seen in Yurufuwa Jikkou Iinkai, cameos as a placeholder student in this song's PV.
• Kill la Kill's Mako Mankanshoku can be spotted sleeping on the desks in one PV scene.
• Despite a lot of the imagery surrounding Chiaki's death implying that he died by drowning in this PV, the rest of the continuities would elaborate that the beach incident was not his cause of death (although it did worsen his condition).
